Corn Cobs for IPSD and Presidents Day

This year as always International Pipe Smoking Day falls on February 20. It just so happens that in the United States February 20, 2023, is Presidents Day. For several years now the mention of Presidents Day has caused a flare-up of feelings – ranging from pride to loathing – depending on one's political views and the person sitting in the Oval Office. Here at the Pippeshoppe, we don't take sides. We respect every position and belief held by our dear customers. Politics just don't energize us, but we do adore International Pipe Smoking Day. As a kid in grade school,…

International Pipe smoking Day - February 20 If you love clay pipes, or briar pipes, or Meerschaum, or corn cobs, or love all sorts of pipes, February 20th is your day to shine. The Porcelain Hunter Pipe

The Porcelain Hunter Pipe

My friend Steve once complained, "I went to Germany and all I got was this crappy t-shirt and a porcelain hunter pipe." They also had to pick him up off the sidewalk outside a Munich beer hall on several occasions during his tour of Germany, but that's another story. So it goes, I suppose, that most hunter pipes are bought by tourists in order to prove to their neighbors that they actually went somewhere exotic and vaguely quaint, rather than something to add to their vast pipe collection. Let it be known that the noble Hunter Pipe is not just…

We have selected specific countries to sell to so if you are outside of the United States or Canada and do not see an option to purchase, or your county does not appear on the list, please contact us and we will assist you.

The allure of clay pipes

Over the spring and summer, I have been watching the AMC show Turn on my Netflix account. It is a show about George Washington's spies during the Revolutionary War. No, it's true, I don't have a life and I have nothing better to do, so I watch shows on my computer. I enjoy the show and especially the actor Samuel Roukin who plays, in my opinion, the most annoying character on television. He's great but what holds my interest the most are the scenes inside the taverns where you can see extras smoking various styles of colonial clay pipes. The…
