The Markus Fohr hand-rolled clay pipe #38 white pipe with ebonite stem.

This pipe comes with two bowls. The second bowl and be switched out for trying different styles of tobacco, as a spare should one break, or to give one a rest while you light up another bowl. The ebonite stems offers the same experience as a briar pipe and can be cleaned with a pipe cleaner. Please note: the pipe does come with two bowls but only one ebonite stem.

Markus Fohr is a pipe maker who lives in Montabaur, Germany, about 70 Miles from Frankfurt, Cologne and Düsseldorf in the region of Westerwald.
His family has been making clay pipes for generations. He uses the fine white clay of the region which has been prized for centuries and is used to create the famous pottery of this region.
Some of the molds used are originals going back 240 years.

“I make pipes in the traditional way…” Markus Fohr

Why 2 bowls?

Although, you can simply refill a clay pipe bowl with any blend you choose after smoking the first bowl and do so without affecting the flavor of the second mixture, the fact that this pipe ships with a second bowl will make a lot easier to test out more than one tobacco mixture with the same pipe. It is well known that the clay does not retain the flavor of a previously smoked blend (known as ghosting) and for that reason you could simply empty the first bowl and refill it and get the full flavor of the new blend. But what if you are tasting two different tobaccos and want to be able to compare them even as you smoke them, then the second bowl really comes in handy. Just fill each bowl with competing tobacco blends and smoke one for a while, switch bowls, smoke the other and go back and forth as needed until you feel you have a good sense of the qualities if each blend.
